Candy Donation Program Launches
A special program to secure donations of candy and snack products that will be shipped to U.S. troops serving abroad was introduced at the SWEETS & SNACKS EXPO.
Beginning this fall, Operation Frontline Candy will facilitate confectionery and snack makers’ generous donations, which will benefit servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Candy can play a vital role in combat zones,” explained Steve Forster, executive editor of trade publication Candy & Snack TODAY, which is implementing Operation Frontline Candy in collaboration with a non-profit group. “Very often our servicemen and women give candy to local children, and this goes a long way toward winning their hearts and minds — and in some instances, can actually save lives.” Forster added as little as one case of product could make a major impact.
Complete program details will be published in the July/August issue of the magazine.
